More fallout from the CPSI

Wow... more problems with the so-called Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008. Motorcycles and ATVs will be illegal. I wonder about bicycles? Do they have alloys made with lead? If so, then they are all illegal. Apparently books published before 1985 may have lead in the inks, as well. Even though they have never caused a problem it will be illegal to sell them. And the deferred testing requirement is no help as selling a product that turns out to contain illegal amounts of lead or phthalates is still a crime and still punishable if found. So expect to see landfills full of pre-1985 children's books, bicycles, backpacks, clothes with zippers, etc... and expect thrift stores to shut their doors and major manufacturers to reduce the number and variety of products they sell.

What a stupid, stupid law.
